When I was a kid, there was a dog at the end of the block who always barked and threw himself at the chain link fence around his yard when I hurried past. He was a little guy, but I was terrified of him!

I always wondered if he liked being a guard dog, or if maybe he’d have rather wagged his tale and made friends with the boys and girls in the neighborhood. Still, a dog has a job to do!
