Sometimes kids ask me what kind of books I read as when I was their age. One of my answers is comic books! Here is probably the most influential comic book of my childhood years…illustrated real life stories, done in that literal-minded, Classics Illustrated way–but still the stuff of myth, legend and tall tales, for sure. I loved anything having to do with pirates, clowns, aliens and monsters. Still do.
