One of my goals as a boy was to build the best mad-scientist lab in the neighborhood.  With some batteries, test tubes, electric cords, an old rubber mask and a cardboard skeleton, all I really needed was a smoke machine to make my vision complete.  But they didn’t sell smoke machines when I was a kid!  My little scene looked great by candlelight, but I needed to turn on the overhead bulb to get a decent picture.  Sadly, that kind of ruined the scary effect I wanted. Sigh…
